BBL® Prompt™ System
The BBL™ Prompt™ System is used for the rapid inoculum standardization of 0.5 McFarland turbidity level (1.8 x 108 CFU/ml) of bacterial inocula for Bauer-Kirby susceptibility testing.
Unlike conventional Bauer-Kirby preparation techniques, the BBL™ Prompt™ System does not require nutritive broth, manual inoculum turbidity adjustment of nutrient broth, or maintenance of barium sulfate McFarland turbidity standard. Simply touch the tip of the BBL™ Prompt™ wand to isolated bacterial colonies. Place the wand into the BBL™ Prompt™ saline tube and vortex. Your inoculum preparation and standardization is now complete. The entire procedure can be easily performed in under 60 seconds and held up to 6 hours at room temperature before use.
The BBL™ Prompt™ System also offers a documented, rapid inoculum standardization procedure for Haemophilus influenzae.
