Benchkote™ and Benchkote™ Plus Lab Surface Protectors, Cytiva Whatman™

Whatman Benchkote is a laboratory surface protection material of particular advantage where toxic and radioactive materials are being handled. The high quality, smooth white absorbent paper surface is laminated to a strong layer of polyethylene, giving a valuable combination of absorbency and impermeability. After use, the sheet is simply picked up and incinerated or otherwise disposed of.

Highly Absorbent Surface, Impermeable Backing
The paper side quickly absorbs liquids. Droplets do not spread but are quickly dispersed into the surface. The polyethylene side prevents liquids from going through to the working surface. Spillages are therefore trapped in the absorbent paper. This makes both Benchkote and Benchkote Plus excellent devices that comply with OSHA Regulation 29CFR 1910.1030 for Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.

• Saturation with disinfectant to protect benches where pathogenic and dangerous bacteria are present
• Covering hard working surfaces (stone, tile, etc.) to prevent glass breakage
• Localizing and holding reagent spillage in radiochemical laboratories; avoids radioactive contamination of work surfaces

Benchkote
Offers a high quality white absorbent paper capable of being written on with ink or pencil and coated on one side with an impermeable layer of polyethylene.

• The paper side quickly absorbs liquids, and spillages do not spread

• The material lies flat and is very strong, wet or dry, making Benchkote tear resistant
• The sheet of Benchkote can be picked up and burnt very easily after use; the polyethylene layer does not melt or drip but is rapidly consumed in the flames
• Benchkote can also be used polyethylene side up to collect deposits without absorption into the backing.

Offers a thicker absorbent layer to give that extra absorbency required for more demanding applications (absorbs over 3/4 liter of water per m²).
