Empore™ Filter Aid 400 has been shown to improve flow rates and recoveries for separation and filtration of water samples containing suspended solids. When placed on top of the Empore Extraction Disk at a depth of about 1cm, Empore Filter Aid 400 acts as a depth filter to inhibit the migration of suspended solids to the surface of the disk. This reduces extraction time and improves rates and recovery of analytes.
Composed of glass beads with a typical diameter of 40µL, Empore Filter Aid 400 is nonporous, inert and resistant to leaching. These characteristics result in low interferences and higher, more consistent recoveries.
Empore Filter Aid 400 is denser than other filter media. As a result of this higher density, the glass beads settle quickly when the water sample is added, preventing most suspended solids from reaching the Empore disk.
