Centrifuge, Rotors, Horizontal Drum Rotor for Centrifuge Models 5804, 5804R, 5810 and 5810R, Eppendorf®
The Horizontal Drum Rotor accepts six carriers or racks that hold up to 60 x 1.5-2.0mL or 120 x 0.25-0.4mL tubes, providing greater microcentrifuge tube throughput. The rotor is designed to position tubes at a 90° angle, thereby exerting the force at the bottom of the tube instead of the tube wall, as is found in a fixed-angle rotor. This is particularly useful with low sample concentrations, since it facilitates sample location and reduces loss. In comparison to a swing-bucket rotor, the Horizontal Drum Rotor can be used at a much higher g-force, thereby combining the high throughput advantages of a swing-bucket rotor with the high g-force of a fixed-angle rotor.
